Hi friends and potential clients and any other internet lurkers who have found their way here. It's November here in Colorado. The leaves have sky dived back to the ground. The snow is lingering on the peaks. The ski resort is making snow. The town is much sleepier. There is an anticipation of winter on the horizon each morning. We can all tell it is coming soon, but for now let's chat about fall.
This September I set out to ride my mountain bike every single day. As the days started ticking off I realized I was hitting a new trail each time, so I added in that challenge too. 30 days and 30 different sections of trail. It was a big mission while working at a preschool, serving at a restaurant, babysitting a few times, navigating my own family photo sessions, going to the gym regularly, and helping take photos at a wedding. When I got to the last week, I was a little burnt out. I realized that the mission made me disciplined, but it also took a bit of the joy out sometimes. Missions like this always teach me something.. Setting goals is a basic part of my identity at this point. I will probably never stop setting goals as that is how I feel myself push forward, continuing the journey of becoming the best ME I can be. It works for me. Four years ago I started doing Sober September. Then that has become a mostly zero alcohol life for me. Starting small, but carrying it through has changed every little aspect of my life. I will always be proud of the self-discipline I've obtained over the years. This was just another way for me to examine where I'm at with that.
The best part about this mission was that it taught me more about the area in which I'm existing. This beautiful place. It really is something. I went on quite a few new trails and learned to love the uphill pedaling- Or should I say up-mountain pedaling because that's what we're doing out here. I like having this map in my mind forming from the trails and area around here. It is priceless knowledge to gain, and makes me feel like I'm moving toward my "local" status in a mountain town.
The leaves were a treat allll month long. I just felt like I was chasing them down each day. I loved that part. I took my camera with me on a few bike missions. I thought I'd share those photos with you here. Instagram and Facebook are such a brief look at an artist's work. I hope you come here to see the photos in all their glory. They deserve a moment in the golden yellow spotlight.
